80What is Organizational Behavior and why we need studies on that? Organizational behavior is a subject that refers to the study of work behavior in other words employee’s behavior which is instrumental in determining the performance of an organization. Organizational behavior is a system which is involved in monitoring, understanding, forecasting and controlling behavior at work which ensures effective performance of the organization. Organizations of any business are built up with the association of people, money, material and methods. But the most important are the people working in the organization. Accomplishing any task without the help of the people is just unimaginable. Organizational behavior is an emerging field which is engaged precisely in the activities of the people and their behavior.
What is behavior?
In simple terms behavior can be stated as bunch of activities a person often do. These activities are often directed towards a particular goal. In some cases a person may be able to understand his goal, but in some cases he may be unaware of the purpose of his activities and may not be leading towards the goal. Behavior is determined by the personality of a person which is a subconscious mind of that person and therefore does not lend itself to scrutiny.
Organizational behavior is the behavioral approach of business management and focuses much on people and their behavior in the organization. It helps to predict and control behavioral consequences like stress, conflict, politics, leadership etc. Behavior in organizations too is affected by environmental changes. Organizations are paying enough attention to determine way of making behavior more productive. Of course work behavior has greater influence on the job performance.
Organizational structures have been constantly undergoing changes as a result of complexities of the environment. Understanding the organizational behavior time to time is very essential to see that the organization is leading towards success properly by implementing behavioral changes desired to accomplish the tasks of the organization. Organizational behavior therefore is a study that inquires the impact of individuals behavior, group behavior and implement a proper work behavior model that ensures organizational effectiveness.
